Quality 101 Management Understanding

In any organization, it’s the Quality Professionals’ job to make sure Management realizes what needs to be done to control Quality

Often times they do not know exactly what is needed!

They generally aren’t Quality professionals but are typically CEOs or CFOs, Production Managers, etc., and arrived at their current position with a very different background.

And when they think that they know, results are often less than optimal, and at times catastrophic!

Interestingly enough, when you go to a Doctor, they went to Medical School and know better than a patient, right?

When you work with an Attorney, they represent you “in your best Interest”; they went to Law school and know better, right?

But when it comes to Quality, many have misconceptions, they think they know but are not trained Quality professionals

A typical example is when Management blames the Quality Manager for quality problems

They may understand that Quality is of some importance but may not be willing to provide the necessary resources for success

It’s our charge to educate Management in that Quality is a vital component of the Enterprise.

We must provide objective data to clearly illustrate the return on investment so that Executive Management is prepared to provide the necessary resources, and participate in the effort
